We have had the land where I have my garden for quite a few years now and have spent this last year building.
Moved in just in time for Christmas and the garlic, some of which I have lifted this afternoon and am so looking forward to roasting! Applause

So glad to hear the move went ok - I'm a great believer, having done this job for seven years now, that things always work out in the end so any problems you may have had, not just with the physical moving but with the buying process, only serve to prove you were meant to be in that home because you overcame them.

Anyway, yes the presents I was expecting arrived and no, the garlic didn't arrive until this morning (grr!!), along with one present which I definitely asked to be delivered direct to my parents in Devon but which I found sitting on my desk when I arrived at work today (double grr!! Evil or Very Mad

). Now I've got to find some way of getting it down there asap. Oh well.

The garlic is now sitting under my desk (stinking the office out, by the way Twisted Evil

) and I can't wait 'til the weekend when I can plant it - hope I'm not too late! Pray

I spent Sunday morning pottering around (still clearing away old dead clematis a section at a time - there was rather a lot but I think I'm about half way there now Smile

) and finally got to plant my garlic Very Happy

I've got two varieties which were both "reviewed" in a recent edition of Gardener's World Magazine, called Albigensian Wight and Solent Wight both cultivated, I understand, in the Isle of Wight specifically for the British climate, so I'm expecting great things Wink

The photo below shows my four bulbs on the little wall in front on the bed where I planted them, just before being separated.

I've also made a sort of timetable showing what seeds I need to sow and when, coz we're getting there, slowly but surely - the first ones are to be sown in Feb - I can't wait!!! Very Happy

Mine have all been lifted and are drying in the shed, such bliss to have fresh garlic again!

Your idea of a seed sowing plan is a good one.
I do the same thing otherwise I find the weeks creep up and before you know it it's too late! Shocked

Something I always plan on doing is sowing the same thing every couple of weeks during the season. It is also something I never seem to achieve cos I always end up with that 'glut' thing or nothing! Mr. Green

I have just sown cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli, getting ready for winter already...still looking around for summer...think it got lost trying to find us this year Cool

Hee hee, I can’t believe how excited I am about… well… the whole thing really, but particularly my garlic as I’ve never grown anything like it before and I can’t wait to taste it Very Happy

! Unfortunately no little shoots showing yet (although all my spring bulbs are popping up all over the place – dafs, snowdrops, hyacinths, tulips, etc.), but I suppose I just have to be patient (yeah, right!), especially seeing as they’ve only had about a week underground (give them a chance, Bambi!!). Rolling Eyes

Anyway, I’m really looking forward to this Wednesday as I’ve got the day off work (hurrah Very Happy

) as I’m working on Saturday (boo Sad

), so I’ve got great plans to have a really good look around the shops and garden centres for some nice stuff, but I’m particularly after one or two nice troughs to plant my tomatoes in (when they’re ready!). I’ve picked out the best spot for them but unfortunately the beds don’t actually extend that far, so I thought I’d plant them in some long, thin containers which has the added benefit of giving me more room for other things too!! Good plan. Wink

You have to have them in the ground long enough for them to at least smell the dirt before they pop up Bambi!

Hahaha! Bet you start looking at your seed trays after the 2nd day (like some of us Embarassed

) and expect to see vegetables too Pray

AND bet you have 'ever so carefully' scrapped back the dirt to see where they are when you can't see anything poking out of the tray! Very Happy

Love the trough idea! Did you know you can grow tomatoes in the potting mix bag also? Just flop the bag on its' side, put a slit in it, add a bit of compost, poke the tom in, water and presto! A veg patch! Very Happy
