We don't choose animals, they choose us... and by the looks of him you should be extremely flattered that he chose YOU!
Wish you joy... |

Oh Anna, he's just gorgeous!! He's so adorable, with his one little floppy ear and his bright eyes and little wet nose!! I wish I could just pick him up and give him a huge cuddle! |

Doggie face..27 Nov '06 11:34 pm
Dear Anna, I absolutely agree with Jack. But I " read " a sort of sadness on the face of the little one ( his unhappy previous life ? You adopted him from others?), which, I am sure, it will evaporate with the richness of your love -- look how tenderly you hold him... |

Those photos were taken on Saturday after we'd just bought him. I know it was a big day for him having to leave his brother and sister behind at the pet shop, but he's adjusting nicely and is sitting on my lap as I type. His head is resting on my right arm which makes it a little difficult, but we're getting there.
He adopted my children pretty quickly and he's spent the day wandering past their bedrooms looking for them and whimpering. He can't understand that they have to go to school. |

He is a lucky dog! And you might find it hard to change that name - silly first impression names have a habit of sticking! I love him, and think he's going to have a grand life. Thanks for posting - can we see some more pix? |

How is he doing, Anna??30 Nov '06 4:44 am
I hope you have more news from him by now, Anna : that he is even more happy, even more addapted to his new , real home! Any more happy photos of this darling doggie face?
You know, I have never liked pet-shops... I remember once in Paris , a mother of primary schoool children then, I burst in sudden (loud)tears, a little after entering in a big shop like this, one of the best in Paris, just by listening the puppies and the kittens calling me and staring at me behind their clean glass cages... I felt I wanted to adopt all of them -impossible, and then hated the fact that living beings like those were sold like articles...Never entered a shop like this since then, and when I see one from afar, I go to the other side of the street...
You could argue, that it is better in a pet-shop than abandoned, shivering and starving in the streets... I fully agree! My brother found a round tiny puppy last April somewhere in Athens, and saved her from death 100%! She is gorgeous by now and very naughty... |

I'm glad to hear he saved her.
Our other two dogs are both 'rescue dogs' of a sort. This is our first pet shop dog.
Ziggy was from the SPCA, and we found Brandy abandoned on the side of the road. Her brother was dumped at the same time too but people from the village we were living in found him within minutes of us. The two dogs had gone in different directions so we missed him.
I'll post some more photos soon. |

On being chosen...30 Nov '06 7:31 pm
Taubie (my x bull terrier) was in the window of a pet shop I walked past weekly without taking any notice. One day she caught my eye over 30 meters and said 'Fetch'. I was due to visit on Samaria (the game farm on the Limpopo I wrote on in July) within a week. I phoned my cousin who said she would not be the first 8-week-old pup to visit on the farm, went in and went home with her. It was 3 months after I'd moved to the Sequoia permanently and three years since I had owned a dog...
Doubly belonged to people who were moving to a dog-free community. I walked past, commmented on the beautiful border collie and went home with him.
Monty was a day old when I visited his 'grandmother'. Of course she took me to see the puppies... I said 'The dark one? A male?' and booked him. I did not want another dog, still less another male... |

I didn't think we'd end up with a male puppy. I'd have sworn we 'go female', but you can't help who you 'fall for', can you?
He's sleeping on my lap, yet again, as we speak. This is getting to be a habit. |
