Dear Liza,
I was sad to hear of your recent sadness. I know the garden can be a great comfort during difficult times, but it doesn't seem fair for the difficult times to come in the fall when the garden is beginning it's decline. It is a melancholy time of year anyway. I hope you will find strength and comfort to see you through. Thank you for sharing your friends delightful photos. The last one in particular had to bring a little smile to your face.
Love, Faith

I'm sorry you're feeling down at the moment but I see sunny days ahead.
Your garden is so beautiful that I'm sure it must be a delight year round.
Although some may find wnter to be a stark time I like seeing the bones of the garden, and in fact my favourite tree is the silver birch which I find at its loveliest when its branches are bare.

Dear, lovely Liza, I'm so sorry to read that you are feeling down. I can understand your mood, especially in light of your worry for your dear Mother but, as our friends have all said, we must look to the positive always. I know this can be very hard sometimes and I find it especially difficult on occasion, but since discovering this wonderful site last winter, I have always been able to find solace in some way or another by seeing the changing seasons around the world - never forget that, even though winter is approaching here, it is always summer somewhere in the world!
Your photos do show the changing colours, but don't look at them and despair. Something I have learned through my work is that the winter light always makes colours more dull; the same applies underwater - the further down you go and the less light there is, the more the colours are muted, but just shine a torch or a lamp on them and they shine with all their beauty!
lots of love,
Bambi

Flowers of the sea15 Nov '06 3:56 am
Ooooh, Bambi, your underwater photos of the fish are entrancing. I have heard that tropical fishes are like the flowers of the sea. Your photos demonstrate that to perfection!

Pure Divine Art!!15 Nov '06 8:30 am
My God! Bambi, what an inspiration to send these colourful photos! I always enjoy with all my heart films pertaining to such underwater magical spectacle! The British and French T.V.s have many times offered some excellent programmes on this theme! It is a pure cure for the eyes and the soul!
Thank your for your wise, consoling words. Deep down we know these things so well...But at a certain moment , when things are really tough, we feel stuck, jailed by our own human bodies and minds... We feel we need to fly away , like dream birds, from our own hard reality -- which we consider like a bad dream... It seems so really thrilling sometimes, to be able to be just a tiny little bird in the woods..
And , dear Faith, one of your previous posts "Moody Blues", reminded me of that excellent melodious American group of the 70s!! " The Moody Blues"!! How I loved their music !! Their vocals reminded me of "The Mamas and Papas"-- another splendid musical group of the same period. I was so little then, but even my parents loved their music....."Monday- Monday..."!

The Moody Blues15 Nov '06 10:03 am
I too am a big fan of this old group. I found my all time favorite MB album in a basket of old records at a rummage sale. It still plays fine. In fact, You have spurred me on to look it out again. It is called "Days of Future Passed", and goes back to 1967 when concept albums were all the rage.
On another note. Some Halloween pix to make you giggle.

Those remind me of an email my mother sent me titled 'Why Dogs bite people'.
(I tried to copy them on to my computer to upload them here but I've done something wrong. *scratches head* I'll try again later.)

What a loud, steady lough!15 Nov '06 10:39 pm
Christopher, dear! Last night, tired and sleepy, I decided to say "good night" to the Forum... And here are those...doggies of yours!! In each photo, I was loughing more and more loudly, and finally, at the...bananas, I went ....bananas myself! I felt like having drunk the best glass of red wine! And straight happily to bed!
Christopher, what can I say : in both your serious and funny moods, you are absolutely perfect !! I am so grateful to Moosey and to you...
And about The Moody Blues : I , too, went straight to search among my old-style big, black records/albooms, after your post. And I found a double one with them, called " A Question of Balance". And, guess what : I found also The Rolling Stones(a lot!), The Beetles (a lot!), The Bee Gees (a lot!), The Animals, Santana, Tom Jones, Tina Turner, Engelbert Hamberding, The Best of Bread, The Carpenters, Graham Nash, Neil Diamond, Mike Bloomfield, Hoje Feliciano, The Kings, Simom and Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, and so many other old-style unforgettable big albooms , bought by me and my husband during our younger years (oh, dear, I loved the "young-er"!...). They smell strange, like old clothes many years forgotten.. But only the reading of the titles , brought all this lovely music live again in my head and in my heart...I think I have to search for all these ..ancient treasures in CDs. We aready have some , but just a little bit (you know, Stones, Beetles, Bee Gees, Tina Turner...).

Nostalgia Mania16 Nov '06 3:42 am
Wow, my innocent comment about the Moody Blues seems to have set off a firestorm of nostalgia. All this music was of my late teens and early twenties and I am really happy that most of it still sounds good to a lot of people. As the saying goes (slightly altered) "You can't keep a good thing (man) down."
Christopher, your dog pictures were hilarious. I must admit that some of the dogs looked a little embarassed however.
