Our old garden19 Oct '06 9:41 am
This is a bit of a test for me, to see if I can figure out how to add photos to a post. Fingers crossed this works.
My current garden is more than a bit pitiful being so new and the fact that I'm incredibly lazy.
So I thought I'd drag out some photos of our old place. We sold it just over 3 years ago and in that time it's been sold again twice more.
I think the house has decided it doesn't want anyone else living there but us, so it's systymatically 'weeding' out the newbies.
We lived there approx 12 years. It was a bare block when we bought it, bordering on NZ native bush. The bush was a little scruffy but we liked it.
The section of almost one and a half acres, in rural Ngaruawahia, was on top of a hill overlooking the Waipa River.
We had to sell due to distance from hubby's work and schooling. But I still miss the place.
Now the photos are a bit grotty, due to the fact that our old digital camera was a cheap and nasty one and the pictures often appear rather grainy, for which I apologise.
So here goes...

Our old courtyard, fencing not yet finished. In the background the Ngaruawahia forest way in the distance. Closer you'll see some Blackwoods growing. The rose was 'Chianti' which I loved and the possums didn't seem to notice, thank goodness.

Well, that seems to have worked.
Not quite sure how you get more than one photo per post, so bear with me. I'll do this one at a time til someone kindly points me in the right direction.
This is a little bit scary.
Next...

Here we can see a glimpse of garden with lavendars, white flowers that have totally gone right out of my head (Ack!) and some lovely 'buttercup'. Oops! I have no idea what the 'dead looking thing' is sitting on the table. Ignore it!

Some random trees!
(I think I've worked out how to add more than one photo, but they aren't appearing in the order I uploaded them. I'll figure this out eventually. )

This is in a seperate garden to the previous trees. You can just glimpse the house from here, to the right.

Our scruffy native bush. We had lots of kanuka and some 'lovely' *sarcasm* gorse. But it brought the birds in so no complaints.

Finished!
*passes out*
Not overly 'flower heavy' these shots, you wouldn't know it but the driveway which we had planted with silver birches had quite a lot of underplanting but I don't have any decent piccies of it.
I had a few hybrid musk roses struggling and pansies, violas etc, etc...
Also missing is a shot of the 'water tank' where I had a 'Monsieur Tillier' and a 'Penelope' which the possums hadn't found and were doing quite well (along with the ivy I was training up the water tank. Big mistake!!!!! Never, ever grow ivy! It takes over! *understatement*)

A lovely "Country House"20 Oct '06 2:20 am
Anna, this sort of a house is called by some people as "their country house", with a kind of tenderness and sweetness, and longing to go back there the sooner possible.... Some people living in appartments in big , heavily populated cities, consider such "country houses" as a part of Paradise, which they are! Beautiful!

Dear Anna,
How beautiful your views were in the old house. I can see why you hated to leave it. I also really enjoyed your dialog. Reminded me of Moosey. Must be a New Zealand thing.
Thanks for giving us a view of paradise.
Faith
