Winters coming!!14 Oct '06 7:53 am
A light snow coverd the Green grass yesterday and I was hoping it wouldnt last. I pulled in all my plants hoping to keep fall color around for a few more days. My two daughters, grandson and I went to the pumkin patch to enjoy the gifts of fall. Even though it was snowing and our hands were cold from the cold air we still had a mision to bring home the treasures we found at the road side stand.

Arlena, welcome. What a pair of contrasting pix! The colours in the flowers are just beautiful. Winter - aargh! Down here (in New Zealand) we hope we've put all that behind us. For a little while, that is!
Lovely pix, happy gardening snow or no snow!

I love snow and pumpkins too.22 Oct '06 7:53 am
Hello there. We have had a few flurries, as resent as Oct 10 was our first. Nothing has stuck yet and this is a good thing as i have outdoor works in progress.
I had my most successful season ever in my pumpkin patch and I have 6 beautiful pumpkins, in the greenhouse now, waiting for the "Magic Night" when they will all sport a face and candle and be on proud display.
Welcome to this forum. Post lots.

I have the cutest white flowering little perennial which I call snow-in-summer. It's flowering just now - beautiful! Hee hee...

if your "snow in summer" is the same one we have in England it spreads like mad. I pull it out by the handfull or it just takes over my drystone walls!!

It's the same! But it seems to be able to be controlled - and that's weeding by hand, nothing chemically enhanced! Suspect that the lower rainfall may keep it in check? I often worry that I've weeded it all out.... hee hee...

Winter's coming here too, Arlena.7 Nov '06 3:24 am
Hi, Arlena. I'm going through Moosey's newsletter and saw that you also had an early snowfall this year. I live in Sarnia, Ontario and we got snow October 12th. About two months too early for us. It's been most unseasonably colder than usual since but we have squeezed out a few warmer fall days. The snow was gone in a couple of days and I've been busy since putting the garden to bed.
Your armful of zinnias are gorgeous - lovely rainbow of colours! I hope you were able to get all your flowers covered before the snow or frosts destroyed them. We've had some very early frosts but most all the flowers have been done for awhile, so it didn't matter.
I really love reading about Moosey's garden all winter while mine is white and sleeping. Hope to see more about your garden here in the future.
Bye for now. Jo-Anne

It's great to see all of you excited about the fall !!!29 Nov '06 7:21 am
Halloween visited my family and we enjoyed having our grandson come over to trick or treat at grandmas. We were blessed with a big blanket of snow that lasted long enough to let the kids play and experince those bumps and brueses we so much miss now that we are older and wiser.
I enjo reading your fun stories and look forward to see your winter landscapes.
Winter Blessings
